As the summer holidays roll in, many families start looking for ways to keep the kids entertained without venturing too far from home. From outdoor adventures to educational experiences, here are some of our favourite ways to make the most of the summer break across the areas we know best.

Coleshill & Surrounding Areas

1. Kingsbury Water Park🌳
Just a short drive from Coleshill, Kingsbury Water Park is a haven for outdoor family fun. With over 15 lakes, picnic spots, walking and cycling trails and a brilliant adventure playground, it’s ideal for a day of fresh air and exploration.

2. Indoor Big Play Barn at Ash End Farm (Tamworth)🐄
A spacious and modern soft‑play centre featuring big slides, rope bridges, air cannons and separate baby/toddler zones. It also has a café on site – a great option for those inevitable rainy days.

3. Chelmsley Wood Library Activities📚
Local libraries often put on free events and activities throughout the summer holidays. From craft sessions to storytime and scavenger hunts, it’s worth checking the schedule at Chelmsley Wood Library they have lots going on!

Lichfield

1. Beacon Park🌺
Right in the heart of the city, Beacon Park offers acres of open space, a play area, mini golf and even pedalos on the lake. There are often organised family events and sports days throughout the summer – check the Lichfield District Council website for details they have a lot going on!

2. Lichfield Garrick’s Family Shows🎭
Theatre is a great way to keep the kids engaged and Lichfield Garrick is running a drama Summer School Drama Club this August.

3. National Memorial Arboretum – Children’s Trails & Events🛝
Though it might not be the first place that comes to mind for family fun, the Arboretum offers fantastic interactive trails and outdoor activities for children. It’s both educational and moving – a meaningful day out for all ages.

Solihull & Nearby Villages

1. Malvern and Brueton Park🌸
This central Solihull park is a family favourite, with woodlands to explore, a nature reserve, a children’s play area and the Parkridge Visitor Centre offering nature-themed activities.

2. Touchwood’s Kids’ Club Events🛍️
Touchwood Shopping Centre often runs themed summer events and free activities during the holidays – from mini discos and craft workshops to character visits and treasure trails.

3. Knowle Park & Ice Cream from Berryfields🍦
For a relaxed afternoon, head to Knowle Park for a picnic and playtime, then take a short walk into the village for a treat from Berryfields – their ice cream is a local favourite!
